Guides

Choose a task, not a pile of posts

Use a guide when you need to do something: identify a part, record a measurement, organize a fault report or compare a purchase. Use the Wiki when you need to understand the component itself.

Long-form guides are under editorial and layout review. The reference pages and worksheets below are available while that review is completed.

Identify a part or machine

Start with complete machine and component identifiers. Then connect the catalogue illustration to its parts list, serial applicability and orderable number.

Measure and record

Identify what the dimension means before taking it. Keep units, reference points and uncertainty with the result; do not replace manufacturer wear limits with a universal threshold.

Describe a symptom

Separate the observed symptom from the suspected cause. Record affected functions, operating conditions and relevant service history before ordering a component. Machine-specific testing belongs with the correct service procedure and qualified personnel.

Compare and prepare an order

Compare like-for-like assembly scope, part-number history and applicability. A motor-only quote and a complete drive quote answer different questions; keep the distinction visible.
